EDUCATION:I am a graduate of the American University in Washington, D. C. I obtained a BSBA (Bachelor of Science in Business Administration) degree in 1976 with a major in Accounting.
EXPERIENCE:I have 30+ years of accounting experience with the federal government. I began my accounting career in the Washington, D. C. area wherein I worked as an Operating Accountant for the Federal Housing Administration and as a Staff Accountant in the Comptroller's Office with the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA). I later became a Systems Accountant and Project Manager at the Bureau of Public Debt, Investment Division.
INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE:I moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and became employed by the Internal Revenue Service in 1991. Having been employed with the Internal Revenue Service for 17 years, I have the inside "scoop" to the workings of the Internal Revenue Service. I can offer you expert tax preparation and representation.
I am a former IRS REVENUE AGENT with the Internal Revenue Service. Unlike Revenue Officers who do not perform examinations of income tax returns, REVENUE AGENTS perform audits on individual and business tax returns. I retired from the federal government, U. S. Treasury Department, Internal Revenue Service, Examination Division in June of 2008. I have seventeen years of experience with the Internal Revenue Service. I started my career with the IRS in 1991 in the Taxpayer Service Division of the Internal Revenue Service. I spent three years assisting taxpayers on all administrative matters before the IRS in both Spanish and English. During this time period, I assisted many taxpayers who would otherwise have suffered a hardship by preventing collection action and providing immediate relief from tax levies and liens as well as wage garnishments. I assisted taxpayers with their tax questions and problems.
In 1994, I was selected as a Revenue Agent. As a Revenue Agent I spent over fourteen years auditing individual, business, trust and employment tax returns. Among many other types of examinations for which I was responsible, I examined "Offers-In-Compromise" and "Innocent Spouse Claims". This experience brought me face to face with many CPAs, attorneys, enrolled agents and tax practitioners. I noted that many taxpayers were taken advantage of by individuals and companies that may not have been aware of the IRS procedures and protocals that must be followed.
Having witnessed this first hand, I am dedicated to representing you in an ethical and honest manner. I believe in the value of relationships. I view every client relationship like a partnership, and truly believe that my success is a result of your success. I am committed to providing close, personal attention to my clients. I take pride in giving you the assurance that the personal assistance you receive comes from years of advanced training, technical experience and financial acumen.
I am skilled in problem solving and was instrumental in resolving numerous complex tax problems on behalf of taxpayers during IRS's "Problem Solving Days" for which I volunteered. I received my commission as a Notary Public from the Arizona Secretary of State effective January 20, 2009.
I am an active and participating member of the Arizona Better Business Bureau, the National Association of Enrolled Agents (NAEA) the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), and a member in the Professional Association of Notaries Public.
I provide a variety of services including:
Bi-lingual tax services. I can assist you in tax planning, tax preparation and representation in both English and Spanish.
Quickbooks Pro-Advisor. I can review your books and records and assist you in identifying problem areas and make the necessary corrections.
Audit Representation. I provide IRS and State Audit Representation on all administrative tax matters. Having been a field Internal Revenue Agent for over fourteen years I have examined many different individual, business, trust and employment tax returns. I have the knowledge and skill to advise you on what you need to know to prepare for, handle and avoid an IRS Audit.
Appeals Representation. I have the knowledge and skill to analyze your case and determine if an "Appeal" is appropriate for your situation and to prepare the "Appeal" on your behalf and represent you during the Appeals process.
Avoidance of Abusive Tax Schemes. I spent many years auditing the tax returns of individuals and businesses involved as investors in abusive tax schemes. As such, I can help you detect and avoid abusive tax schemes.
Offers in Compromise. As a field Internal Revenue Agent, I audited many cases of "Offers-in-Compromise" as to collectibility and/or liability. I was responsible for the audit and the determination of whether or not the offer in compromise met the criteria for acceptance on the basis of collectibility or liability. Consequently, I am skilled and knowledgeable in this area and can evaluate your case and advise you as to whether or not your particular situation has merit. If it does or does not, I will explain to you why or why not and assist you during the examination of an "Offer-in-Compromise".
Tax Debt Relief. If you qualify as an "innocent spouse", I will assist you in the preparation of an innocent spouse claim and represent you during the examination by IRS of your claim. If you meet the criteria outlined by the IRS, I can assist you in the release of tax levies and liens and wage garnishments as well as recommend that you be placed in "Not Collectible" status. I can provide assistance to you in reducing and/or eliminating tax debt if you meet the criteria outlined by the Internal Revenue Service. If there is reasonable cause, I can assist you in having certain penalties abated from your tax debt.
New Business Start Up. Choosing the form of entity for your business (e.g. "S" corporation, "C" corporation, sole proprietorship, limited liability company...) is a crucial decision that can have long standing tax implications, positive or negative. I can provide you with guidance in evaluating the pros and cons of each entity type to help you determine the most advantageous form of business for your company. I can provide you assistance in starting up your new business and assist you with all your tax needs. My continual investment of time and resources in professional continuing education, state-of-the-art computer technology and extensive business relationships is indicative of my commitment to excellence.
